Commissioner Meeting Recap for September 1, 2026

 

The September meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included a retirement recognition, a public hearing, and contract approvals.

 

Highlights:

  • Libby Davis was recognized for her service of 31 years with the Department of Social Services. She was honored and presented with an engraved clock.
  • A public hearing was held for a resolution authorizing the County to grant funds to Ace/Avant Real Property Company, LLC, for industrial site preparation. The resolution, contingent on Randleman’s approval, was discussed by the Commissioners; approved.
  • Randolph Community College President Dr. Shah requested funds for the Applied Industrial Artificial Intelligence Center and deferred maintenance projects for RCC; approved.
  • Ricky Allred requested approval to place a monument at the Poor House Cemetery as a Local Cultural Heritage Site, at his expense; approved.
  • A public hearing on the Proposed True-Value Schedules, Standards, and Rules and the Present-Use Schedules, Standards, and Rules was set for the October 5, 2026 Commissioner meeting at 6:00pm.
  • DA Andy Gregson and Sheriff Greg Seabolt requested funds for a Youth Protection Initiative program; approved.
  • An update was provided on the new January 1, 2027 mandatory State-level fees on local building permits to support the State administration and enforcement of Building Code.
  • A contract proposal from McGill Engineering for design, bid, and construction administration of a water line along Old 421 Road was brought forward; approved.
