LIVINGSTON, NJ, UNITED STATES, May 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Approximately 62% of high school graduates immediately enroll in college after graduation, while just under 16% pursue vocational or trade school pathways. For Hudson Horowitz, that gap highlighted how many students might not fully understand the opportunities available within skilled trade industries. That curiosity eventually became the foundation for Trade Tracks, a social media account designed to introduce students to skilled trade careers through real interviews and firsthand stories from professionals working in the field.
Instead of relying on general career descriptions or online summaries, Trade Tracks uses personal interviews and summary style social media posts to share real experiences from professionals across a range of skilled trade industries. Each feature highlights a career path, while diving into project work, training experiences, certifications, and advice from professionals to help students better understand opportunities within the trades in a way that feels digestible and relatable.
“I’ve always been a hands-on person, so I wanted to learn more about the different paths students can take, whether that means college, trade school, or both,” Horowitz shared. “By interviewing professionals directly, I was able to learn about different career paths while creating something that could help other students.”
To build Trade Tracks, Horowitz researched different skilled trade industries, developed interview questions, and conducted interviews with professionals across multiple fields. After gathering information, he transformed each interview into social media posts designed to make career insights more engaging and easier for students to understand.
One of the biggest challenges was coordinating interviews while organizing information from many different industries into a format that remained clear and consistent. Horowitz addressed this by creating a structured interview process and visual format that allowed each feature to feel clear while still highlighting the unique experiences of every professional interviewed.
Since launching Trade Tracks, Horowitz has featured interviews with nearly 15 professionals across industries including HVAC, carpentry, landscaping, interior decorating, elevator installation, and many other skilled trades. Throughout each interview, professionals share insights into their career journeys, training experiences, and advice for students considering similar paths. Many also expressed appreciation for bringing greater visibility to careers that are often overlooked despite playing an essential role in everyday life.
Peter Schreiber, one of the professionals featured through Trade Tracks, reflected on the value of the initiative and the impact it can have on students exploring future careers. “If I had something like this when I was younger, it probably would have helped me a lot,” Schreiber shared. “Most kids don’t really know what the trades are actually like or how many opportunities there are. Hudson is giving people a real look into these careers from people actually working in them.”
While reflecting on the growth of Trade Tracks, Horowitz shared that the project has given him a greater appreciation for the amount of information and opportunity that exists across skilled trade industries. “It feels rewarding to create something that helps students learn about real career opportunities and gives professionals a platform to share their experiences,” Horowitz shared. “I learned the importance of communication, networking, persistence, and how much knowledge exists within different industries.”
As Trade Tracks continues to grow, Horowitz hopes to expand the platform by interviewing experts across even more industries and continuing to create content that helps students explore career opportunities they may not otherwise encounter in traditional school conversations.

Hudson Horowitz is a student at Livingston High School in Livingston, New Jersey. He’s a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society.
